AFRICA - Summer 2008

We're going to Kenya again this year! Please let us know immediately
i
f you are interested in helping in any way or going with us. We need
to know who want to go not in order to get the process started so
we'll be ready this summer!

See Mike Becker for more information

MOST RECENT:

VERMONT - June 2007

What an awesome trip to Vermont! The scenery, the music, the
food!...and most importantly the fellowship and ministry to the
community. We're add pictures of some construction, outreach
and backyard bible clubs.

2006

We were priviledged to take two(2) mission trips this year:
"Foreign Missions" to KENYA, Africa,  and
"Home Missions" to GULFPORT, Mississippi

We were NOT so priviledged in the weather area: we went to Gulfport
in the middle of a heat wave and everyone knows how hot it is in Africa!

GULFPORT, MISSISSIPPI - July 2006

How hot was it? It was so hot the devil came by askin' for a
lemonade...twice!

We had some hard workers...doing stuff you really don't want to do.
It was an amazing sight to see up close the horrible situations the
residents of this area are still going through. Special kudos to
all those who braved it--the adults who worked themselves to heat
exhaustion, and the youth who worked themselves harder than
anyone's ever seen them work! But, everyone came home with
smiles and great stories to share.

KENYA, AFRICA - June 2006

We have just completed an exciting trip to Kenya to spread God's
message--with the help of a 'conga' and interpreters--among the
Maasai peoples of that region. Mike Becker and Dr. Wayne Dyer are
part of a 30-person team from many different churches to spend
time ministering there. They are having an exciting time, with over
190 saved this trip alone, and renewed acquaintance with the many,
many men and women Mike met there last year...oh, did we mention?
This is Mike's second time there. Over 500 were discipled--these are
Maasai that had accepted Jesus on previous trips and came back
eager to learn more about their Savior.

The Maasai do not have a written language and do not read, so telling
them about God's Son, Jesus, is done through interpreters and showing
them pictorials on a conga, which is left with them afterward. A conga
is a roughly 4' x 5' cloth divided by approximately 64 frames of colorful
dipictions of the old testament starting with the creation of the angels
and ending with Christ's resurrection. In between are drawings of the
lives of many old testament characters and prophets in a way that
facilitates the telling of Jesus' story and why we ALL need him! It's a
fascinating process to watch our missionaries go through the conga
and tell the stories most of us grew up with--it sheds a different light
on what we take for granted.

SITKA, ALASKA - June 2002

In the fall of 2001, God began leading the members of Hampstead Baptist Church to untake a mission trip to Sitka, Alaska to put a new roof on First Baptist Church. God raised over $25,000 through His Church in Hampstead to pay for the new steel roof and the travel expenses for the crew of eleven. None of the eleven who went had ever put a roof on a building of this nature, muchless a eel roof. This was a truely God-Sized project for HBC and He was faithful in providing all that was needed. The crew was there for 8 days in June, working on the roof in the daytime and holding a revival at night. The folks in Sitka were just awesome with their hospitality and smiling, kind faces. We were truely blessed by God and thankful for all that He did through us.
